In the first game of UCSD hockey against UC Davis for the 2023-2024 season, UCSD was still missing some of their players who could not make the trip up the first day, resulting in a disappointing 7-8 loss for the Tritons, who felt that they did not put their best foot forward, despite scoring 6 goals. The Tritons and the Anteaters traded blows throughout the game, going back and forth until the Anteaters ended up on top, and the Tritons, disappointed, looked forward to the next day with all their players and less travel in their legs.

As expected, the Tritons had a much better showing the next day, handily beating the Anteaters and enjoying their last road trip together as a team. They scored 5 in the third period alone, getting many different players a chance to light to lamp and help their team along. The UCSD players were happy to redeem themselves against the Davis team, and relished how far they had come this season to the point where they could win a game as a team with good chemistry and camaraderie.
