2/15/25 - In the Zone in Arizona

The Tritons headed to the University of Arizona this weekend to participate in the second league tournament of the season!

The A team was strong offensively in the games against SDSU B and the University of Arizona, winning 17-4 and 18-1, respectively. Over the course of the day, every single field player scored at least one goal. The B team faced tough competition in SDSU A and ASU on Saturday, with a very competitive game against ASU ending in a 5-8 loss.

Sunday was filled with tight matchups for both teams, with two games going into overtime. The A team first beat UC Irvine 20-8, with Nadia Alcaraz leading with 5 goals. Then they faced SDSU A, which won 12-9 in overtime. Jaclyn Hahn and Tania Frank led the charge in this game, scoring 8 of the 12 goals. The B team’s first game on Sunday was a tight and low-scoring game against SDSU B, with goalie Beth Flynn making an impression with 3 steals. The B team’s second game was a nail-biter against UC Irvine, with the team coming back from behind and going into overtime. Ultimately, the team came up short but showed a great performance in their second overtime game against UC Irvine.

Overall, the standout players were Shristi Bandyopdhyay on A team and Ivy Goodwin on B team, leading their teams with 12 and 6 goals over the weekend, respectively. Both teams are looking forward to playing in the Southwest League Championship Tournament at their home pool, with the undefeated A team aiming for a spot at the Nationals in April.
