    2/14/26 - USTA TOC So Cal Sectionals

    Saturday was pool play, and all three of the Tritons’ teams played three matches. The A team went undefeated while the B team almost beat the UCSB A team. On Sunday, A team was in the gold bracket to win a bid for Nationals while B and C teams were in the Silver and Bronze brackets respectively. A team beat Cal Poly Slo to win a bid for nationals and then proceeded to win Gold Bracket for the third year in a row. B team made it to the finals of the Silver bracket and narrowly lost to UCLA B while C team won the Bronze Bracket.

    The highlight of the tournament was the final match between UCSD A team and UCLA A team. Jared Admiraal and Logan Li won their men's doubles match 6-3 while Alyson Hirota and Lesa Ritchie fought hard in a 3-6 loss. Ethan Vo was up in his singles match 3-0 when UCLA subbed in a new singles player, but he still won 6-0. Ally Chen came back from 4-0 to win 2 games, making it so that the Tritons were up by 2 games when they went into mixed doubles. Kiichi Ishida and Rachel Sherrill won 6-3, securing the sectionals title for the third year in a row for UCSD.
