The UC San Diego Men’s Lacrosse team unfortunately continued their losing streak with a stunning loss to MSU Denver 4-5 in overtime. The Triton roster has been thinned by injury and illness over the past week. Yet this squad still had all of the tools to win this game against the Roadrunners from the Mile High City. The Tritons won every stat line throughout the game from ground balls, to caused turnovers, to shots. However they lost the key statistic of any game, goals.

The Triton offense was snake-bitten by poor shot selection and lacked focus when executing Triton Lacrosse. The rest of the Triton squad played seemingly well against a lean and mean Roadrunner team. Defensively juniors Matteo Leibman (Bio-Premed UCSD '20) and Justin Norton (Bio-Premed UCSD '20) played very well. The two of them helped the team not only on the defensive end with saves and takeaways but also in transition. These two quarterbacked the Triton clear, efficiently returning the ball to the offensive end.

Taking away from the loss, the Triton team now has a chip on their shoulder. This squad has something to prove and has taken up their timeless mantle of the underdog. Your Tritons look forward to conference play against UC Irvine on Wednesday the 3rd of April, and their chance to bounce back!
