Vegas Baby

Vegas is one of the best B-team tournaments and Berserk came out energized and ended energized. On Saturday morning, Berserk came out strong in the first game against Colorado B. O-line was making quick scores and D-line was getting the much needed ‘D’ followed by an eventual score.

The same intensity was carried to the next game against Nevada-Reno. We started on man-defense, but switched it up a couple of times with a 3-man cup zone defense. Reno wasn’t quite ready and we took the game 8-4.

Around game 3 against Arizona State, the famous Vegas wind started to pick up. We threw our cup on the field, but Arizona was quick and had some great throws in the wind. They took it 3-8.

The final Saturday game was against Sonoma State. At this point, the wind had picked up to full speed and thus the great equalizer was born. We started on offense going down wind and worked hard to get the upwind break after a grueling point. However, Sonoma proceeded to score upwind break again and again. We threw our toughest line to score an upwinder to tie the game, but were not successful. It ended in a defeat 5-7.

On Sunday, we only had two games. Our first game did not start until 1:00pm, so we had plenty of time to rest from the long night. Our first game was against Colorado B again. We came out a bit sore, but still took the cake 9-5.

Our second and final game was against Utah State. This could not have been a better team to play. They had the minimum 7 players- no coach no substitutes. The girls played every single point - some of them with dislocated shoulders. They played savage. We started out with a quick score and could see the exhaustion in their eyes. However, their handlers worked an amazing up the line cut that we couldn’t stop. In the universe point, their consistent movement took the game 8-9. Good game Utah!
