Small, but Mighty

This past weekend, the UCSD Men's Club Volleyball team was only able to send one team to the West Regions Challenge. On day one, only seven players (the minimum required to play) were able to make it. Four players played out of position, most notably Chris Shaffer at setter and Hunter Zeng at libero. The Tritons started the day against the Colorado School of Mines, and were able to win in two games. The Tritons then squared off against the SF State Gators, and after being in a 10 point deficit in game two were able to come back and win 2-0 over the Gators. Finally, the Tritons reverse swept the Fresno State A team, the top seed in their pool. On day two, additional players were able to show up, and the Tritons went 2-1, finishing at 5-1 in the tournament. Despite the challenges in their rosters, the Tritons demonstrated a strong showing at this weekend's tournament.
