A New Hope

Successfully qualifying for the D1 league championships, the UC Slam Diegans showed up at the American Sports center in Anaheim ready to end league play on a good note before the grind for nationals began. Playing two time reigning national champions and rivals SDSU first, the guys put up a good fight but lost in two.  Playing ASU immediately after, the guys from UCSD just weren't able to pull the game out and ended 0-2 in pool play. Not discouraged, the Tritons moved into bracket determined to not leave without a victory under their belts and defeated UVU in a solid game. Moving up into the semi-finals, the Slam Diegans had their shot at some revenge against ASU whom they lost to not long ago. In an extremely close match, ASU did end up defeating our boys in blue and gold, but we put up quite a fight and forced the game to three sets before falling. Holding their heads high though, UCSD Men’s Volleyball acknowledges the mistakes of the day, but also sees the growth the team has made throughout the season. Turning their eyes towards Denver, Colorado, the Tritons begin their journey to Nationals and their hope at glory where it truly matters.
