League Championships Blue Edition
After stellar league play, the UCSD Tritons qualified for the league championship tournament which is only open to the top 6 teams in the division. Finishing second in league play, the Tritons were given the 1 seed in their pool. The tournament opened with another cross-town rematch against SDSU which the Tritons won with some magnificent plays from Ryley "Rye Bread" Moore. Next, the team faced the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos. Despite, impressive plays from the opponent, the Tritons pulled out a sweet victory earning them a bye in the first round of playoffs. Heading directly into semifinals, the Tritons faced SDSU (again) and if anyone was wondering which team reigned supreme, it's the UCSD Tritons. With the second win against SDSU, the tritons moved on to the finals where they played UCLA, the only team to hand the Tritons a loss in all of regular season league play. The tritons knew it was going to be a battle and came out fighting. However, the fight wasn't enough to defeat the Bruins and the Tritons finished a disappointing 2nd place. The Tritons are looking forward to two intense weeks of practice before flying out to nationals in mid April.
