3 Game Win Streak as Tritons defeat CSU San Marcos
UCSD Men's Club Soccer won against CSUSM to extend their win streak to 3 games in the league. A well organized and strong team, San Marcos was a challenge on the field. For much of the first half, the match was very back and forth, with possession and attacking opportunities even from each side. Very late in the first half, forward Kyle Vigil receives the ball in the penalty box and is tripped by a San Marcos defender. A penalty kick is awarded, and Captain Luca Scotzniovsky calmly puts it in the net to give the Tritons the 1-0 advantage going into half time. The second half kicks off in a similar fashion, with the game being very even and balanced. As the half progressed, UCSD began to gain more and more control of the game; with less than 20 minutes left, Junior Daniel Sanchez crosses a beautiful ball to the back post, where a defender's attempted clearance falls directly to Senior Forward Jose Valencia, who easily slots the ball into the goal. The match finishes with a 2-0 scoreline and another win for the Tritons. Currently first place in the league, the Tritons look to bring the same energy to their last two games and finish out on top.
