The Greatest Cross-town Battle

Some argue that UCLA  vs USC or UNC vs Duke are the greatest cross-town rivalries in college sports. I'm here to talk about the TRUE greatest cross-town battle in the United States: the battle for dominance in San Diego. This past weekend, UCSD faced off in the last league tournament of the year with San Diego State University and the University of San Diego to decide who the best team in the city is.

The day started with a rematch between two greats: SDSU and UCSD. The head to head record for the season was tied 1-1 with UCSD losing to the Aztecs in the SCCVL Preseason tournament in the finals, and Tritons smiting the Aztecs in their Aztec Invitational tournament. The Tritons came out with some fire in the first set, but the Aztecs fought hard. In the end, the first set went to the Tritons in a close, back and forth game. Fired up from their win in the first set, the Tritons came back with even more force and energy, proving their dominance with a 25-10 win in the second set over SDSU, giving them the W for the match. Next was the battle against USD. After a shaky win in the first set, the Tritons came back stronger once again and defeated the Toreros with impeccable defense and dynamic attacking. This left the tritons undefeated within the region and a 7-1 record in league, proving once and for all that the Tritons are the best of San Diego. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
