Sunny Sunday

A fair day atop the hill of the field that is CSU San Marcos was the setting for today’s matchup.

Triton’s had a fiery start, threading passes through the thick, damping grass. Many shots were from outside the box, none hitting the mark. Shannon Earley, rookie defender, stepped up big time, controlling the team’s organization as defensive-midfielder.

As the game progressed, many crosses were swung in by the Tritons, but the attacking line could not complete.

The second half started up, still at 0-0, and the Tritons had a near opportunity within the first minute. In the 70th minute, the Tritons found themselves running towards their own goal, as Cougars mounted some break away attacks. In the final 10 minutes, both teams heated up as the game approached its end with no goals. Reese Flinn, freshman midfielder, and McKenzie Kirn, captain, had some strikes from 20 yards out that narrowly missed frame. Unfortunately, as the third whistle blew, the game ended at 0-0.

The Tritons look forward to their next header at rival, SDSU, on Thursday evening.
