Great Start for the New Season
To officially open the new season, UCSD Women's club Soccer team played Point Loma Nazarene University. With a couple of months off, UCSD trained hard to get back into the groove of things to prepare for this upcoming season. Excited for their first game of the season, UCSD knew they had to start the game off strong to set the pace. In the first half, Point Loma put up a good fight against the Tritons. UCSD had many opportunities on the goal within the first 10 minutes of the first half due to their beautiful passing sequences and passing around Point Loma by spreading out the field. 15 minutes in there was a free kick for UCSD around the 30 yard line, defender Hannah Hurd took the kick and place it beautifully in the back of the net. Continuing with Tritons amazing passing and use of the back line, defender Rachel Ng got a pass back from the mid field and took a shot and place it in the back of the net. As the second half started, Point Loma was pushing hard against UCSD’s defense and got a goal in. That goal made UCSD push back even harder back. With fire under their feet UCSD was able to get 3 more goals in by Nat Maloney, Alison Long and Kenzie Kirn. The game ended in a 5-1 win for the Tritons.
