2nd Collegiate Divisionals

UC San Diego’s Club Table Tennis Team had a tough but nonetheless enjoyable 2nd Collegiate Divisional. Co-ed Varsity placed third out of four teams in the Southern California East Division, winning 4-0 against CSU Long Beach, but losing two close 2-3 matches against University of Southern California and University of California, Irvine. Both matches ended in a doubles tiebreaker that was very close and could have gone either way.

This tournament, there was also a singles tournament. Paavan Gaur and Alexander Chen placed 7th and 8th, and Anthony Chu placed 3rd. It was a great experience for all to play elimination rounds against other teams’ top players.

The JV1 team did great, beating UCLA 4-0, USC 3-1, and only losing to UCI. Also, our JV3 team had a great success, winning against CSUN, USC, and SLO with only a single game loss against SLO’s JV3 team.

Overall, UCSD has learned a lot from this event. As more players with different styles appear on different teams, we need to work on our own consistency and adaptability to other University’s unique players.
