UCSB Beach Ball

Our team’s second event of the season was the UCSB Beach Ball on November 10th. Hosted by the UCSB Cotillion Dance Club, this was the first intercollegiate dancesport competition we attended that offered all amateur dance levels and events. Our couples competed against ten other teams in events of all levels ranging from Newcomer for beginners to Open for advanced dancers. Highlights from this competition go to Josue Alvarado and Carla Chehadeh who placed third in Newcomer Latin Cha-Cha; A’mariah Lovelace and Jamshed Ashurov who placed third in Rookie/Vet Standard Waltz; and Joan Valls and Amanda Ridgeway who won first in Bronze Latin Jive and Rumba, second in Bronze Cha-Cha, and third in Silver Cha-Cha and Rumba!

This competition gave new members the opportunity to experience a full dancesport competition, and the returning members a chance to see how much they have improved since the last season. As the last competition we attend this quarter, the team will start learning new routines for our next competition in February, the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Mustang Ball.
