UCSD Comes Out on Top in High Scoring Game
The opening game of the season for UCSD was against USC in Moorpark, and it turned out to be a fantastic and high scoring game. UCSD's Alberto Montilla came out with the first goal, scoring a tomahawk into the top right and making the game 1-0. A couple of minutes later, Montilla delivered a bullet pass to Anna McQuarrie who perfectly tipped it into the roof of the goal, making it impossible for the goalie to stop and an absolute sensational goal. The first half ended 2-0 in favor of UCSD, but USC came out firing in the second half. The Trojans were able to score three quick goals from short-corners and led the game 3-2 with almost 10 minutes left. However, Montilla wasn't ready to take the defeat in UCSD's first game as he came out and scored two more goals, leaving the scoreline 4-3 as the Tritons defeated USC, 4-3.
