12/1/23 - Squids get 3rd at Sean Ryan
As a whole, Sean Ryan was a good start to the season and a good motivator for the rest of the year. We did alright, coming 3rd overall and beating some teams that were highly ranked in the nation last year. We beat UCLA, UC Davis, UCSC, and UCSB by large margins, but lost to Cal in groups and Utah in the semis. Both the losses were very close games that we could have won if a few things had gone differently. The early blow out games were great for the squids to build energy and momentum throughout the tournament.
Highlights of the weekend include a Walla Callahan and Agapito’s hype-up speeches before games and at half-time, but overall everyone played really well. Overall, the squids were able to show that we’re not a team to be taken lightly, and that we can compete to earn a bid for the southwest.
