11/13/22 - Kendra's Race
The Triton triathlon team traveled to Santa Barbara, California to participate in UCSB's annual triathlon: Kendra's Race. The race is held in memory of Kendra Payne. The course first takes swimmers from Sands Beach to Wooden Steps, and after clambering up the many floors, racers grab their bikes to complete two laps around campus in the Santa Barbara airport. Finishing the run beneath towering trees, racers sprint to the finish line over a lush and grassy field.
Our powerful Tritons dominated at Kendra's race. Though water temperatures were low, our fearless team was undeterred. Speeding past seaweed and seals, our team demonstrated their aptitude for open-water swimming. The bike course proved challenging; at times, it was difficult to know where to turn. Regardless, the racers adapted and overcame. Finally, on the run course, our Tritons pushed their limits under the Santa Barbara sun. All in all, Kendra's race was a beautiful experience; filled with strength, determination, and the overwhelming spirit of triathlon.
