The Tritons went up against the UCLA Bruins in their first scrimmage of the year where they showed great dominance on the field. Many rookies made their first appearance ever in the scrimmage and with the help of vets, the team grew exponentially in their confidence throughout the game. The first quarter began fast paced and the Tritons quickly moved across the field with rookie Lina Luedi scoring their first try of both the game and the season. Rookies Nikole Kron and Holly Hardin led the team as scrumhalfs with great direction. The Tritons continued to assert their dominance through strong and continuous possession of the ball which led forwards Roslin Amezcua and Brittney Quezada- Sanchez to both score their first try of the season. With great communication and passing throughout the back line, Sara Tsai was able to escape defenders scoring another try for the Tritons and her first for the season. After this try, UCLA was able to sneak through and get a try, but the Tritons were unfazed and continued to display their command of the game through aggressive gameplay. Lina Luedi was able to score yet again and the game ended with rookie Darya Massih scoring her first ever try and Lina Luedi completing the conversion and adding an extra 2 points to the Tritons victory. Overall, the team had high energy and intensity showing that they are a force to be reckoned with this upcoming season with the final score of 32-5.
