The UCSD Surf Team achieved an impressive second-place finish in Huntington Beach over the weekend, marking our best performance since the 2017/2018 season. We narrowly trailed Cal Poly SLO by just 3 points. The 4-6 foot conditions, along with challenging yet rewarding offshore winds, added excitement to the event.

A standout moment from the contest was Christian Schenk's exceptional performance, earning a perfect 10 in the final minute of the quarterfinals with a backside, no-grab air reverse. This propelled him from 4th to 2nd place, securing the only perfect score of the event and advancing to the semifinals. Makena Burke also had a stand out heat in the quarterfinals, scoring a 9.50 and a 8.33.

After a long weekend of intense wind and sizable conditions, two of our women, Kalohe Danbara and Maddie Garlough, made it to the finals, with Danbara finishing in 3rd place and Garlough in 4th.
