UCSD won the toss and elected to bat first. After losing early wickets in a slump, Abhishek Santhanam  (110 off 65) and Ritvik Mohindru (35 off 27) stitched up a great partnership and played till the end. It was a great day for UCSD, as Abhishek Santhanam scored his maiden hundred for UCSD. UCI had to chase 178 and started their innings well. The UCSD bowlers weren't consistent enough and couldn't capitalize on opportunities. The best bowler from UCSD was Ritvik Mohindru (4.0-0-3-25). UCSD ended up losing by 5 wickets. It was a tough loss as this was their first home game of the year, and they lost the streak of never losing to UCI at home.
