    Club Swim competed in their first official meet of the season at the Spooky Splash Invitational, which the team hosted!  It was the largest meet Club Swim has ever hosted, and the meet was met with amazing success, with great swims by many swimmers and new team records being set. Many swimmers were able to qualify for Nationals which showed the amount of the hard work they have been putting in so far. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished first, with a combined total of 1,759.50 points, finishing well ahead of Swim Club at ASU (1,196.50 points) and Swim Club at Berkeley (625 points), who rounded out the top 3, out of 13 teams competing.  

     

    Here are some highlights of the relays, which showcased the incredible depth of the team:

    Women’s 200 Medley Relay Team A, B, and C all finished in the top 5, placing 2nd-4th, in that order

    Men’s 200 Medley Team A and B also finished in the top 5, placing 2nd and 4th respectively

    Women’s 200 Freestyle Relay Team A and B placed 1st and 4th, respectively

    Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay Team A rounded out the top 5

    Mixed 200 Freestyle Relay Team B, C, and A placed 3rd-5th, in that order

    Women’s 400 Freestyle Relays Team A and B finished 1st and 3rd, respectively

    Men’s 400 Freestyle Relay Team A and C placed 3rd and 5th, respectively

     

    Individually, here were some highlights: 

    Morgan Rummelhoff - Women’s 200 Freestyle: 3rd place (2:07.09), Women’s 200 Breaststroke: 2nd place (2:45.85)

    Garrett Feng - Men’s 50 Breaststroke: 3rd place (27.43)

    Madison Tran - Women’s 100 Butterfly: 3rd place (1:03.63)

    Nora Mensch - Women’s 200 Backstroke: 1st place (2:22.41)

    Itay Ben Yoseph -  Men’s 200 Backstroke: 1st place (1:58.99 - team record), Men’s 200 Butterfly: 1st place (2:00.39)

    Christopher Rochez - Men’s 50 Freestyle: 2nd place (21.74)

    Dylan Oquendo - Men’s 200 IM: 2nd place (2:03.79)

    Ana Maynez - Women’s 500 Freestyle: 3rd place (5:39.79)

    Matthew Swida - Men’s 500 Freestyle: 2nd place (5:09.44)

    Devin Churning-Sibert - Men’s 500 Freestyle: 3rd place (5:16.16)

    Erin Swift - Women’s 50 Butterfly: 1st place (28.07), Women’s 50 Backstroke: 1st place (28.55), Women’s 100 IM: 1st place (1:04.55)

    Ryan Zhao - Men’s 100 Backstroke: 1st place (53.37 - team record), Men’s 50 Backstroke: 2nd place (25.51)

    Emma Yuguchi - Women’s 100 Breaststroke: 2nd place (1:15.72)

     

    The team has been working very hard and looks forward to carry the momentum toward their next meet at UC Davis, and build towards Nationals!!
