10/21/24 - UCSD Defeats USD in Pre-season Scrimmage

In an impressive preseason display, the UC San Diego Tritons secured a commanding 7-2 victory over their local rivals, the University of San Diego Toreros. The scrimmage showcased the Tritons' balanced attack and rock-solid defense, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.

From the opening whistle, UCSD's offense was firing on all cylinders, with veteran players leading the charge. Austin Ortel, Marshall Nakada, and Noah Skinner all found the back of the net with stunning goals that highlighted their experience and skill. However, it wasn't just the veterans making noise in this contest. Newcomers Carlos Barrientos, Ian Han, and Kian Gulbrandsen played pivotal roles, stepping up when the team needed it most.

Defensively, the Tritons were nearly impenetrable, led by Trevor Redford, Billy Mack, and Max Mcconville, limiting the Toreros to just two goals while shutting down multiple offensive opportunities. The team’s ability to transition from defense to attack was seamless, with defenders turning stops into fast-break chances throughout the game.

Overall, UCSD’s strong performance from both seasoned veterans and new contributors bodes well for the upcoming season, as the Tritons look poised to build on their preseason momentum. With a final score of 7-2, the Tritons demonstrated that they’re a team to watch.
