10/15/22- UCSD Plays the San Diego Stars

UCSD won the toss and elected to bowl first. The San Diego Stars’ opening batsmen got to a flying start by scoring 71 runs in the first 7 overs. However, after the first power-play, the UCSD bowlers picked up 3 wickets in quick intervals and slowed down the opposition’s score. Despite constant good performances from UCSD bowlers- Aryaman Sinha and Himanshu Pyakurel, San Diego Stars’ batsmen still managed to score runs at a good rate and took their team total to 218 runs. After the innings break, the clouds came back and created better conditions for the bowlers. UCSD batsmen tried to save their wickets against a good quality bowling unit in the tough conditions but, unfortunately, lost an early wicket. The opposition bowling unit quickly rattled through UCSD’s middle order and picked up the next 5 wickets by the end of 10 overs. However, UCSD’s inexperienced lower order showed composure and grit and continued to bat deeper. Unfortunately, they also lost their wickets as the opposition’s most successful bowler, Hikmat, managed to get them out. San Diego Stars won by 184 runs. Award for the player of the Match was given to Hikmat Marof (San Diego Stars).
