10/14/23 - 1st: UCI vs UCSD | 2nd: UCLA vs UCSD
In UCSD's first game, UCI won the toss and elected to bowl first. Despite Himanshu's quick-fire 35 of just 21 balls, UCSD found itself on the verge of a collapse. However, debutant Ritvik and sophomore Vishnu built a strong partnership and remained unbeaten to get UCSD to a total of 160/5 in their 20 overs. In the second innings, UCSD began strong by picking up the crucial opening wickets. However, UCI managed to build a partnership of their own where their No. 5 batsman played an amazing knock of 84 of just 34. UCI chased down the target within 17.1 overs to take the win over UCSD.
In the second game, UCSD won the toss and elected to bat first at El Monte Cricket Field against UCLA. UCSD openers Himanshu and Gautam got off to a good start, but UCLA bowlers kept taking consistent wickets. With the help of Himanshu's half-century, UCSD reached a score of 156/9 in their 20 overs. In response, UCLA came out to bat but lost 3 early wickets. After building a strong partnership and taking advantage of missed opportunities by the UCSD fielders, UCLA managed to win the game when it came down to DLS due to low light.
10/15/23 1st: Caltech vs UCSD | 2nd: USC vs UCSD
In UCSD's third game, Caltech won the toss and elected to bowl first. Viv, the UCSD opener, played an amazing knock of 91 of 56 balls, building partnerships were other batsmen. UCSD reached a total of 147/3 of their allotted overs. In the second innings, UCSD took continuous wickets and always maintained pressure. The Caltech innings never got going, reaching only 80/9 in their 19 overs. UCSD won the game by 67 runs, getting a good boost to their net run rate.
In their last league game, UCSD lost the toss and was sent to bowl first against USC. UCSD bowlers got the start they wanted, picking up early wickets. USC reached a total of 117/9 in their 20 overs. In response, UCSD came to bat needing less than 6 runs per over. However, Vishnu was the only batsman that was able to get a start and UCSD managed to get only 94/9 in their 20 overs. Despite the loss, UCSD achieved third place in the tournament standings and reached the Semi-Finals against USC.
