From September 30th to October 1st, the shores of Fiesta Island in San Diego, CA, served as the backdrop for the 2023 San Diego International Dragon Boat Race. With the dawn of the school year, we embraced this event as the starting point of a new season.

Reuniting our team after a scattered summer break, we set forth to compete in the 500m Mixed College Division in our full boat line-up, Find Out. Our collective determination and commitment to improvement led us through the three total heats in the division. Although most of our team had not paddled in a while, we found out the baseline of our competitive capacity as we secured 1st place in every heat and ultimately earned the gold medal at the event's concluding ceremony.

Striking gold at the San Diego Race was an inspiring achievement for us, one that carried a special significance. It marked the first time we had climbed to the top spot in our division since 2016. This unexpected success humbled us and reminded us of the values of teamwork and resilience. Setting the tone for the upcoming season, we are excited to see what the new year will bring us and have high hopes for the accomplishments yet to come.
