On 1/21/2023 the Badminton club at UCSD hosted matches for the Southern California Collegiate Badminton League (SCCBL) for the 1st time this year.

This time UCSD was matched up against UCLA and CSULB. UCSD did exceptionally well in this meet, winning both matchups with a score of 7-3 against UCLA and a score of 8-2 against CSULB. In men's doubles, Ethan Lee and CJ Cullen prevailed against UCLA’s Henry Tang and Brenden Cheung in 3 sets with a score of 21-15, 11-21, 21-18. In women's doubles, Lynette Loo and Catherine Oei, unfortunately, lost a very close match to UCLA’s Julie Yang and Maggie Li. However, they were both able to bounce back in their mixed doubles matches respectively with CJ Cullen and Ethan Lee. Ethan and Catherine won their match against Brenden Cheung and Julie Yang with a score of 21-15 and 21-16. CJ and Lynette prevailed against their opponents Sohum Bhargava and Maggie Li with a score of 21-13 and 21-13. In the women’s singles category, Megha P won her match with a commanding score of  21-7 and 21-9. Against CSULB, Jun Lee won his men’s singles match against Jaylen Ouk with a score of 21-16 and 21-16
