1/19/24 - President's Day Qualifiers
UCSD Men’s ultimate took 2 teams, B and C, to the president’s day qualifier at California Polytechnic Institute San Luis Obispo during the weekend of January 20th-21st 2024.
The B-team played three games on the first day. The first game, against Santa Clara University, resulted in a 5-13 loss. The second, against Gunn, resulted in a 10-7 victory. The third and final game of the day, against UCLA Smoke, resulted in a 7-10 loss due to multiple injuries on our side.
The B-team played three games on the second day in bracket play as well. The first game, a rematch against USC blockdown from the previous weekend, resulted in a 5-9 loss. The second game, against UC Santa Cruz Ooze, resulted in a 10-9 victory. The third and final game of the day against UC Berkeley Ursa Minor resulted in a 7-11 loss.
The C-team also played three games on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the tournament's first day, the C-team played LMU, Gold Rush, and UCB’s B team. Against LMU the C-Team lost 13-2. Against Gold rush the C-team lost 13-2. Against UCB B the C-team lost a respectable 13-7.
On Sunday, the tournament’s second day the C-team played 3 more games. This time against UCSB B, UCB B once again, and UCSC B. Although all three games were lost 12-7, 12-5, and 11-9 respectively, the team could be proud of their effort.
At the end of the tournament, the B and C team took a cool picture together and everyone was happy because they got to represent their really cool school UC San Diego.
