The Tritons would start this game slow, letting 2 goals in the first period, both off of breaks that barely managed to get by freshman goaltender Matthew Mahlow. The Tritons would be held without a goal throughout the second as well, as they took several penalties which the Vikings would capitalize on one of the power plays. Finally, in the third period, the Tritons would score three straight in the last 12 minutes of the game to tie the game at 3-3. Freshman Ken Rolnick would catapult the Tritons forward scoring off a rush along the boards. Sophomore Rolan Kuznetsov would score the second off a forechecking play by seniors Nicholas Goutzioulis and Reece Wissmueller, and third year transfer Alex Tatoian would score the third goal with help from Reece and junior Hudson Gehrke. Unfortunately, the Vikings would respond with only 45 seconds left in the game off a broken up play with a shot from the point, ending the game in a 3-4 loss for UCSD.
