02/24/24 - 02/25/24 - UCSD enjoys a gorgeous sailing weekend at Mustang Open
This weekend we took 22 sailors up to the green rolling hills of San Luis Obispo! We always love coming to Morro Bay as Cal Poly is an amazing host, with a spaghetti dinner Saturday and a pancake breakfast Sunday morning. Conditions were beautiful both Saturday and Sunday. The sun was shining both days without a hint of rain. We had a great amount of wind, and while there is always a lot of current in Morro Bay to sail in - we definitely learned a lot this weekend. On Saturday there was a light breeze averaging about 5 knots throughout the day before dying around 4PM. On Sunday the wind filled in a bit more with a max of about 12 knots, the current still going strong. Overall about 9 races for the Varsity/Women’s line and 8 races for the Open JV fleet. The team enjoyed a lot of bonding, within our own team and with others we get to see at these regattas. This was a great opportunity for our new skippers to really practice at a fun regatta with great conditions. Thank you again to Cal Poly SLO for hosting an amazing regatta!
