To kick off the beginning of the year, UCSD organizes a meetup with UC Berkeley, marking the largest team match featuring 32 matches between the two schools. UCSD wins Berkeley with a close score of 17-15.

In women's singles, freshman Zihan Xu engages in a fierce match against Berkeley's top seed, Tara Chou. Zihan experiences a narrow defeat with a score of 16-21, 23-25. Undeterred, she pairs with sophomore Jun Lee for mixed doubles, facing Ashley and Brian. In another closely contested match, they emerge triumphant with scores of 21-11, 20-22, 21-11.

In men's singles, graduate student Shreyas Kotian competes against Berkeley's first seed, Ashton Lee. In the awe-inspiring performance that captivates the audience comprised of team members from both schools, Shreyas narrowly loses with scores of 21-18, 19-21, 21-23. In a separate men's singles encounter, freshman Jaden Seangmany faces Berkeley's second seed, Harsh Srivastav, securing a victory with scores of 21-15, 21-10. Jaden and Shreyas pair up for men's doubles against Berkeley's top pair, Kevin Lan and Vivan Sinha. They dominate the match, clinching the win with scores of 21-9, 21-19. 

Throughout this meetup with Berkeley, numerous intense games unfold, featuring several three-setters across various events. UCSD is thrilled to have participated in such an intense match against Berkeley and eagerly looks forward to facing them again next year.
