1/18/2025 - Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite
This past weekend, nine of our sailors headed to the beautiful island of Oahu for the 2025 Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite, hosted by the University of Hawaii. True to tradition, UH put on an incredible event, complete with their signature coconut awards, warm hospitality, and sunny skies that made you want to jump right into the water.
The sailing conditions were strong, with shifty winds blowing 13 knots and gusting into the 20s. These challenging conditions pushed the team to stay sharp and adapt its strategies on the fly. It was a true test of skill and resilience, as sailors had to constantly read the wind, communicate effectively, and make split-second decisions to stay competitive. In these demanding conditions, the team rose to the occasion, learning and improving with every race. With UH graciously providing charter boats, we were able to focus fully on navigating the tricky wind patterns and honing our skills.
Off the water, the warm weather and vibrant camaraderie among teams made the weekend just as memorable as the racing itself. A huge thank you to the University of Hawaii for hosting such an amazing event, and to our housing host John for making all the teams feel so welcome. We’re already looking forward to next year!
