UCSD Finish the Fall League on a High Note
In what is possibly UCSD's last fall game of the season, they faced UC Irvine at home. A win today would most likely secure their ticket to Regionals, while any other result cuts their season short. The match was a tough battle from the start, as UCI was a well-organized team. The Tritons started the game off very hard, applying lots of pressure to keep control of the game. The results showed as UCSD was able to keep the ball well and maintain control of the game; the Tritons got onto the scoreboard first with a fantastic volley from Grad Student Rohan Oprisko, assisted from a well-placed cross by Senior Captain Luca Scotzniovsky. From there, UCSD kept attacking the goal, trying to get another on the scoresheet. The half ends 1-0, with lots more to come. The second half started frantically for both sides, as both teams wanted to score without conceding to the other. UCSD had multiple chances to get another goal on the scoreboard, but the dice didn't roll the right way for them. However, UCI was not able to capitalize on their attacking opportunities against UCSD either. After a hard-fought 2nd half, the game finished 1-0 in the Triton's favor. Their fall league ends with a 3W 2L record, as the Tritons wait to hear about their status for the Regional Tournament.
