Men's Club Water Polo Ramps Up for Another Historic Season
Winning a national championship is something you will remember forever. Those memories and stories are passed down from one generation to the next.
Winning back-to-back titles — that’s what legends are made of.
“Being a champion is an amazing feeling,” said Joey Holloway, a UCSD junior transfer student and first-year on the 2023 Men’s Club Water Polo team. “In high school, my water polo team won a few section championships and it was a good experience, but it doesn’t compare to winning a national championship.”
As we start another academic year, we invite you to continue celebrating our Men’s Club Water Polo 2023 national championship! With fall quarter and tryouts underway, the program continues to expand and reach new heights. Receiving a tremendous amount of interest, the UCSD Men’s Club Water Polo team is ready to build upon its momentum and be reckoned with once again.
In addition to being Head Coach Hector Sanchez’s 10th year with the Tritons, the student-athletes are excited to defend their back-to-back championships and aim to be the first program in CWPA history to complete a three-peat!
If you would like a signed commemorative 2023 national championship team photo, email your full name and mailing address to sportsclubs@ucsd.edu by Oct. 17 to receive your own piece of UCSD Men's Club Water Polo history.
Thank You for Your Support
As alumni, your investment of time, treasure, and talent has helped make this possible. We are so grateful for your generosity and support the Men's and Women's Club Water Polo programs. Your generosity allows our students to focus on their academics, compete in a sport they love, and be the best student-athletes they can be. If you are interested in making a gift to the Men’s Club Water Polo Team, you can do so through the team’s Foundation account. Gifts of any size are welcomed and appreciated.
The Tritons played in the third annual Atlantis Invitational Tournament at Canyonview Pool. UCSD matched up against No. 9 Michigan (14 - 7), UCSB B (17 - 4) and No. 5 UCLA (11 - 6), finishing with a 3-0 record.
