RECognition: Sehee Kim, Marketing
Recreation's monthly series to highlight our sensational staff.

If you follow @ucsdrec on Instagram, or have ever happened to glance at one of the digital displays stationed around RIMAC, there’s a good chance you’ve seen the work of Sehee Kim.
Sehee, a fourth-year in Eleanor Roosevelt College, is a Marketing Assistant with REC and is primarily responsible for creating promotional graphics for digital displays and printed media, such as Instagram stories, campus signage, and much more. Sehee started as a barista in the TEC Café in 2022 but transitioned to Marketing about a year later, where she can utilize creative and design skills.
From Americanos to Adobe. It’s been a seamless transition — and a boon for the department.
“Sehee is the first chair of the REC marketing student team orchestra,” says REC Marketing Director Amy Schiller. “Her creativity, attention to detail, and patience are evident in each project she takes on.”
Today, she helps create everything from event posters and informational handouts to whimsical, REC-themed stickers — including a dabbing raccoon that is a must-have among students and staff alike — and everything in between.
“The work environment and the people I am surrounded by are extremely supportive and fun; they definitely help the time go by fast,” Sehee says. “I can also see that people genuinely like each other at work which brings out the positive energy.”
Majoring in cognitive science, with a specialization in design and interaction, Sehee intends to pursue a career in UI/UX design or data research when she graduates in the spring of 2025. For now, you can likely find her spending her free time visiting a dessert café or reading a good book — and she’s always looking for recommendations.
“I mainly gravitate toward fiction books because I enjoy the range of plots and characters the author can create without any limitations,” Sehee says. “More specifically, I enjoy fantasy and historical fiction.
“I can't say a favorite book because I'm indecisive. But, recently I finished reading ‘Mistborn’ by Brandon Sanderson and am planning to read ‘The Will of the Many’ by James Islington next!”
We can’t wait to see what her own next chapter looks like.
