Are you new, incoming student to UCSD and want to meet lifelong friends before the school year even starts? Are you adventurous and outdoorsy too? Well check out Wilderness Orientation (WO)! With Wilderness Orientation, you can take trips dedicated to surfing, canoeing, backpacking, camping, and so much more! Trips take place in August or September depending on which one you choose and last anywhere from 5 to 9 days. WO is a great way to meet people who also love the outdoors, bond with them on the trip, and come to UCSD in September already knowing some friendly faces on campus. Experience is not necessary! Your guides will help you learn the skills you need, and maybe you can even transfer those skills to when you start exploring the area around UCSD too!

If you are a going to be a freshman in the Fall, you can choose from:
Baja Surf Safari 9 Day (Aug 26-Sept 3 or Sept 6-14)
Black Canyon Canoe (Sept 9-14)
Catalina Island Adventure (Aug 20-Aug 24)
Sea Kayak Baja California (Aug 26-Sept 3 or Sept 6-14)
Sierra Nevada Backpack (Aug 26-Sept 3 or Sept 6-14)
Check out trip details and register here.

If you are a Transfer student:
Transfer Student Backpack in the Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park (Aug 26-Sept 3)
Check out trip details and register here.

For Grad students:
Grad School Orientation Black Canyon Canoe (Aug 29-Sept 2)
Check out trip details and register here.

School of Medicine:
Outdoor Experience MSI Incoming students (Aug 22-24)
Check out trip details and register here.

Students have said that attending Wilderness Orientation was one of their best decisions  they have made while attending college. Not only did they get to explore an amazing location, but they were able to come to campus already having a close group of friends too. Start your time off at UCSD with an adventure by attending one of our Wilderness Orientations!
