RECognition: Rayza Padilla, Marketing
Recreation's monthly series to highlight and celebrate our staff
By Shawn Cyr
Assistant Marketing Director
Rayza Padilla, a fourth-year double majoring in biology and media industries & communications in Revelle College, brings curiosity and creativity to REC. After discovering a new interest in marketing, she found REC and quickly grew to value the people behind every project. She loves collaborating and bringing ideas to life through Instagram Reels and graphics.
"Rayza is seriously talented — she’s an amazing illustrator, designer, and social media pro all in one," Marketing Director Amy Schiller says. "In just one year, Rayza has enthusiastically taken on every kind of task we’ve given her and absolutely crushed it every time!"
Q: What is your favorite part about working in REC?
A: My favorite part about working for REC has always been the great environment that is always upheld. I find it a safe place to come in for work, and there are great people in each department. Working at REC has been uplifting and challenging, but there's no place filled with much support and guidance other than REC.
Q: What do you do for your job at REC?
A: I help create content for REC's social media. I have been able to grow in my position and have started to dip my toes in graphic design. I appreciate REC trusting and allowing me to express myself creatively.
Q: 3. What made you want to come work for REC?
A: My interest in REC came from the addition of my second major, media industries and communications. I had a spark for wanting to discover more about the marketing world, and little did I know there was a job opening on Handshake, and I applied.
Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be and WHY?
A: If I had one superpower, it would be the ability to open doors to wherever I want to go. I love to travel, see new places, and meet new people. I thrive on new experiences on the other side of the world. Also, gas is expensive.
Q: What was your most memorable experience with REC?
A: I don't have a specific memory that I have with REC. Every memory is unique, but I do love the process of working together on projects and putting our ideas together. Additionally, I deeply appreciate the times that I get to know my coworkers better. I like to know their favorite movies, pet peeves, and likes and dislikes. I like being able to connect with them as people, and that's what makes working with REC memorable.
Q: What is one self-care/sports/fitness activity you love?
A: One self-care activity that I love to do is group fitness. REC introduced me to the Pilates classes that are offered to students for free, and I love being able to sign up with friends and go to relieve any worries I have.
Q: When I'm not working, you can find me ...
A: You would probably find me taking pictures or probably watching a psychological horror movie. The cameraman never dies, so you will always find me with a camera.
