The Lady Tritons had an eventful start to their season this early November as the squad of 2 teams travelled to UC Irvine to compete in their first invite of the year. Although the team split into ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams, the teams were mixed to test team dynamics and increase the teams familiarity with new teammates.

The weekend started with an exciting game between the UCSD A team and UCLA, but in the end, the Tritons proved to have a strong defense and was able to break down the bruin offense. Later in the weekend, the UCSD B squad took on the Bruins resulting in an even greater victory over the bruins with a final score of 21 to 8.

The next opponents for the Tritons were the familiar faces of the UCI Alumni. The B squad took on the past anteaters speeding past them with 9 to 5 victory while the A squad was not so lucky in their match against the current UCI team taking on a loss of 13 to 9 in their last game of the weekend.

But 2 of the most exhilarating match uos of the invite was when the lady tritons faced their long time rival, the SDSU Aztecs. In a close game, UCSD B had a narrow defeat against their rivals losing 10 to 5. However, the A squad powered through the next day to overcome the Aztecs 8 to 6 in a grueling match.

In 2 physical matches against USC, the tritons fell to the high press game of the trojans with the A team losing 14 to 12 and the B team losing 20 to 12.

In the end, the tritons left with a newly minted sense of comradery welcoming their new members to their ranks and looking forward to the start of their upcoming season this February.
