The fourth game in the UCSD vs USD series commenced with a quick goal by Kevin Shiltz from UCSD, which set the tone for the game. UCSD was able to keep the lead during most of the game. The game was really close, neither team giving up a lead for too long. The 2nd period was rather uneventful, with neither team scoring despite many chances for each side. In the third period, UCSD scored back to back goals. Due to this, USD pulled their goalie and was forced to put their other goalie in net in an attempt to stop UCSD's hot-streak. However, it was not enough because the UCSD's scoring continued. This set tone for the rest of the game, clinching the win for UCSD. UCSD dominated the third period, winning the game despite being the underdogs with a short bench. Overall, the game was rather close-knit at the beginning, but then UCSD took over. It was a great game with an amazing display of skill from both teams.
