The UCSD surf team opened up the 2019 NSSA college surf season at the world famous Blacks Beach. Day one had very minimal surf, with the biggest waves reaching a whopping 2ft. Despite poor conditions all of our men’s A team advanced into round two.

Day two was bigger and offered waves closer to 3ft in height. Unfortunately, most of our surfers were eliminated earlier in the day. However, Kent Pinz and Michelle Bautista were narrowly eliminated in the quarter finals for men’s shortboard and longboard respectively.

Overall the contest was a great way to start the season and we are all looking forward to improving our result at Seaside!
