UCSD Tritons Fall by one to Crosstown Rival SDSU Aztecs
UCSD Men’s Lacrosse rounded out their fall league with a game against crosstown rival, and D1 team, the SDSU Aztecs. The teams met earlier in the preseason and SDSU controlled much of the game and squeezed out a two goal victory.
This time, however, UCSD came out firing on defense and the Aztecs were held scoreless through the first 15 minutes of the game. Multiple defensive stands resulted in turnovers thanks to excellent goalie play by Justin “McHammer” Norton and continued growth of the Triton team defense.
On the offensive end, senior captain Nolan Harris started off the scoring for UCSD and after one half of play the score stood at 1 each.
In the second half, the Tritons continued to play as a team and show a remarkable amount of growth as compared to only a few weeks earlier. Star rookie Finn “Lax Rat” Reid notched his first goal in a Triton Uniform and Nick “OC Daddy” Krowloski nearly made a diving backhand shot that left his defender behind.
Unfortunately, the game ended 4-3 with the Aztecs coming out on top, but if the Tritons can continue to grow at the rate they have, the league championship seems to be in reach!
