Developmental Regionals
Berserk got the rare opportunity to sleep in on day one of Developmental Regionals, as our first game began at 11:40am. Energized from a good night's rest, we started the day off strong against University of Arizona B, with a final score of 8-1.The second game immediately followed, against our biggest rivals this season, UCLA Midas. The wind picked up, and UCLA's trap cup proved formidable. Berserk's handlers fought hard and were eventually able to break the cup, but too late: UCSD lost the tight match, 6-5. The final game of the day brought Berserk against UC Berkeley. We learned from our mistakes in the last round to take the victory, with a final score of 9-4.
On Sunday, Berserk’s first game against UC Davis started at 9:00am sharp. We started and ended strong- scoring on Davis upwind 3 times to win 7-3. Our next game was against Cal Poly SLO. We worked the disc patiently upwind and won the game 9-1. Semi-finals against Cal B was well fought, and we took the game 8-3. Our fourth and final game of the day was against our greatest competitor- UCLA-B. We had lost to their team every single time this season, so we knew we had to bring our A-game. UCLA scored the first 2 points fairly quickly, so we called a time out to shake out the nerves and get in a cheer. Following the time out, we threw some all-stars on the line and worked the disc patiently upwind. We proceeded to do so again and again to take half 7-6! We came from halftime on defense going down wind. A couple quick throws led to a score which ended the game 8-6! The win was emotional for both teams. Berserk was ecstatic about maintaining their third consecutive win at Developmental Regionals. PSYCHO WE GO BERSERK! Until next year-
