A Game of Tug of War

On the beautiful Saturday afternoon on March 16, 2019 the UCSD women’s club soccer team went out for a game against USD. With finals just around the corner UCSD showed up to USD ready to play. With only 12 girls present UCSD played a great game. During the first half UCSD and USD worked hard to try to score, tension was rising, and USD players became extra aggressive but UCSD managed to stay strong and defend the goal. UCSD had great set plays and attacks toward the goal but neither team succeeded in scoring, finishing the first half 0-0. Shortly into the second half UCSD lost two very valuable midfielders due to injuries leaving UCSD with only 10 on the field. This didn’t change UCSD’s determination, 10 minutes into the second half Amy Schwartz scores a goal for UCSD. Both teams worked towards scoring a goal, but UCSD goalie Maya Dar worked even harder to protect the goal making amazing saves. Out of a lucky bounce USD scored leaving both teams tied once again. Low on players and tired UCSD did not give up and kept working for another goal but unfortunately USD got another lucky goal ending the game with the score of 2-0. Tired but proud of how hard they worked, UCSD girls went back home ready to crush their finals.
