UCSD Win

The rain started to fall as the Tritons were warming up to play the match that would test what they had been working on for the entire season. Mira Costa Community College was the other team that has gone undefeated in the league and the Tritons were going to need to test themselves for this game. The kickoff started strong and the Tritons stole the first kickoff to drive into the MCC defense and push them in to get the tempo. The backs are able to run around the defense and with the forwards barreling through, the Tritons score the first try and set the tempo for the game. The first half of the game had the Tritons running through their opponent’s defense with strength and minimal error, so much so, Mira Costa could not keep up. This caused MCC they to rethink their strategy against the UCSD. The second half, MCC brought it back to punch through the Tritons. They began rushing the backs and pushing hard on the forwards causing the Tritons to make mistakes. The stakes were high, and Mira Costa was bringing back the scores. The Tritons also suffered 2 yellow cards from foul play and penalties from the rush, but they were able to hold their defense. Mira Costa was unable to complete their rush as time was called. Tritons were ahead by one try at 33-26 and left still undefeated in the league. The Tritons will be working to maintain their undefeated streak when they play their last game against Cal Lutheran to stay as the League Champions.
