UCSD-A Takes on the SCCVL South Region Teams
For the third and final round of league play, UC San Diego's A team hosts the fellow teams of the southern division. Their first game was against UC Irvine, and despite pushing the score past 25 each time, UCSD lost both sets and ultimately the match itself. Putting the loss behind them though, the Slam Diegans looked to usurp the reigning champions and their neighboring rivals of SDSU. Winning the first set with a decisive score of 25-17, things looked good. However, an untimely and unfortunate injury to freshmen outside Jason Lee cut UCSD's momentum short, leading to the loss of the second and third sets. Their final game of the day was against CSU Long Beach, and coming together as a team the boys managed to defeat Long Beach in 2 as a tribute to their injured teammate. While not ideal results for the day, coach, Kevin Trombley, told the team they are making large strides in the areas they need to in order to be ready for the national championships in a few weeks.
