UC San Diego Continues the Season with 2 More Wins
With its second league match of the season, the UC San Diego team competed and came out victorious against UC Los Angeles (9-6) and UC Riverside (12-3). Both opponents were strong. However, the UC San Diego team proved themselves to be stronger.
This second league match was hosted at UC San Diego. During this match, UC San Diego played against UC Los Angeles and UC Riverside. With wins against both schools, the UC San Diego team proved once again that the competitive spirit of the team is as strong as ever. Against UC Los Angeles, UC San Diego swept the Mixed Doubles events in straight sets. In the Men’s and Women’s Doubles events, UC San Diego struggled, but still managed to win 2 of the 3 matches in each event. A notable match was between UC San Diego’s Jonas Kurniawan and Jason Ho and UC Los Angeles’ Curtis and Eric, which went to 3 sets, with the scores being 21-13, 13-21, 22-20. Against, UC Riverside, the UC San Diego team swept in the Women’s Singles and Doubles events. Some notable players are UC San Diego’s Crystal Doan and Stephanie La, who defeated their opponents from UC Riverside Nalani Nguyen and Angel Zhou in 3 sets, with the final scores being 15-21, 21-15, 21-14. These players showed that despite suffering a loss in the first set, they were able to persevere and fight through the second and third sets to bring home a victory for the team.
