End to an Excellent Weekend

The UCSD women’s club team kicked off Sunday morning with a game against the Orange County FC women’s club team. The Tritons started off very strong scoring a goal within the first five minutes by freshman midfielder Nadia. The team focused on pressing high and moving together across the field.

Shortly afterwards, midfielder Jill Giannini scored a goal from the outside left, knocking it into the back of the net. San Diego continued to dominate the game, fighting hard and barely allowing Orange County to have chances on goal. Two more goals were scored in the first half by sophomore Natalie Maloney and junior forward Cynthia Ruiz. The first half ended with a whopping 4-0 lead to UCSD.

Throughout the second half the Tritons were taken back by the aggressiveness of Orange County FC and the two games previously in the week were starting to show. Although the Tritons continued to come out hard a slight miscommunication ended in a goal for OC. The weekend games ended with a score of 4-1. Tune back in next week for another UCSD Women’s Soccer update!
