A San Diego Battle
On the night of Thursday, February 28th, the UCSD Women’s Club Soccer Team faced off against San Diego State at the Aztec’s home field. Both teams came out ready for a hard battle. The first half proved to be an even match with great plays by both teams, ultimately ending in a 0-0 tie. The Aztecs started the second half strong, scoring an early goal. The Triton’s fought hard to recover, sending some great through balls over the Aztec defense to their talented forwards, but was never able to put one in the net. Late in the second half, Senior Hannah Hurd made a valiant effort to defend the goal but was unfortunately called for a foul that resulted in a penalty kick on Junior goalkeeper Maya Daruvala. The Aztec kicker placed the ball perfectly in the corner, and the game was then 2-0. Tritons fought hard until the very end, but it was the Aztecs who took the victory.
