UCSD vs UCLA W Rugby

This Sunday UCSD Women's Rugby team played against UCLA's Women's Rugby team at home on Warren Field. During this game UCSD was happy to welcome back some of their prior injured players, some of which have been out all season. UCSD won the coin toss, allowing them to receive the ball first. The first half proved to be quiet relentless as each team's defense seemed to be evenly matched. Each team causing turnovers and making mistakes in key plays that would have led to a try. Just as the first half was about to end UCLA scored the first try of the game, giving each team the first break of the forty minute half. Going in to the second half UCLA was up 7-0. At the beginning of the second half UCSD seemed to keep up their intensity and continued playing a strong physical game. As they made their first try within ten minutes of the second half. The fight for possession continued as the teams went back and forth between defense and offense but UCLA began to find UCSD’s weakness toward the corners of the field. While UCSD tried to keep a good defensive stance, UCLA was able to score more trys. Eventually leading to their win over UCSD. The team’s next game is on the 25th as they will be traveling up to Santa Barbara to face off against UCSB Women’s Rugby team.
