Huntington Beach

The fourth NSSA 2018-2019 College season contest was held at Huntington Beach, Tower 3, with 27 different surf teams competing from across California. Originally the contest was supposed to be held at C street Ventura, but for an unknown reason NSSA preferred to change the location to Huntington Beach. It was a beautiful weekend for a surf contest with minimal wind and great sunshine, the only thing lacking was wave size. Aside from the small size of waves, the waves still had a little bit of power and shape to hold a contest.

Saturday was the first day of competition and completed round 1, 2, and part of 3 for the men’s division. UCSD did quite well in the early rounds of the men’s division, with most team members making to the 2nd and 3rd round. Mostly notably from the men's team was JD Lewis’ 3rd place finish, carrying the team to victory.

Sunday was the second day competition and finished the men's division, as well as women and longboard. Sunday practically had no wind the entire day, which made for a great finish to the competition. The women and longboard team also made some damage in the first couple rounds of competition. Another notable figure on the team was Frankie Seely’s 6th place finish in the women's division. Overall the 4th event of the season was another fun and enjoyable contest where the team both succeeded and had places to improve.
