Event 2: Seaside Reef

Event two of the NSSA College Season was held at Seaside Reef. Unlike the conditions at the Blacks contest, the waves at Seaside contest were much smaller. Aside from the small 1-2 ft waves, the college teams were still able to compete and find some small but fun surf. The weekend also provide beautiful weather for teammates, family members, and friends alike to enjoy the contest.

The UCSD team performed well throughout the contest and ended up getting 4th overall as a team. The team wouldn’t have succeeded in this contest if it wasn't for Matt Honey, Ryan Parks, and Frankie Seely who all made it to the quarterfinals. As well as, David Suhadolnik and JD Lewis who made it to the semifinals. These competitors were able to navigate the small conditions and find the largest waves with the highest scoring potentials to advance in the contest.

Another notably factor about the Seaside contest was the company of two of the Surf Team allonmines Jake Fisherman and Ambrose Tarantino. Jake drove his converted school bus to the contest, where the team was able to set up camp and watch the contest from a high vantage point. Overall the Seaside contest was a fun weekend full of sunny beach days and friends all coming together to support each other throughout the contest.
